Share a lesson you wish you had learned earlier in life.

As I grow older certain things have become more apparent to me. I no longer feel like I am walking through life in a haze. I used to be overwhelmed and overactive.
Doing too much caused me to lose focus on the most important thing in my life: the present moment. I would either be living in the past, rehashing old memories, thoughts, and emotions. Or I was living in a daydream, not putting my attention on anything in particular, just escaping whatever doomed reality I felt I was in at the time.
It took me a few years to figure out that I should be more thankful. I should be grateful for everything around me, good and bad. Living life with an elevated emotion, a feeling of gratitude and appreciation, and a focused attention on what you desire can greatly change your life in amazing ways.
Every hour or half hour, take a minute to breathe into your heart and chest. Focus on what you are grateful for, family, a good breakfast you had, or a positive situation that made your life better. Focus on anything that will raise your state of being, be happy about something and hold onto that elevated emotion for as long as possible.
Forget about the past, quit living in negative emotions, energy, and old behaviors. Create a life worth living through attention to your body and a positive mindset filled with gratitude and joy.
I remind myself everyday how grateful I am to have a loving wife and kids. They make me happy and that drives me to be the best I can be for them.

Good advice!
